Think twice before you decide to indulge in that deeply-fried takeout meal from your local shopping mall eatery. It just may affect your complexion.

Unhealthy, processed foods steeped in excess fats, oils, salt and sugar can precede the development of acne, especially whiteheads, blackheads and pimples, on your face and should be actively avoided.

Instead, for overall skin care, you fare well to embrace a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, whole-grain starches and low-fat, low-sodium, low-sugar dairy products and meat.

By comparison, you do best to use sparingly or steer clear from the following, which lead to unnecessary oil production in your body and take a heavy toll on your skin, in your daily eating habits:

• Animal protein such as beef and chicken contains an amino acid known as leucine, that has been attributed to inflammation and excess oil in the body;

• Chocolate, though it contains mood-boosting properties, may lead to skin conditions when combined with unhealthful fats and oils and extra sugar;

• Some form of dairy product, especially milk, may lead to constipation or gastrointestinal illness but not yogurt or cheese, which are considered healthy;

• Fast food in general are largely fried and foods filled with grease and thus exacerbate your excess oil intake;

• Starches may raise your blood sugar levels, including those with empty calories and low nutritional value such as white bread, white rice, white potatoes, French fries, doughnuts, pastries and sugared drinks.
